Merry Christmas

Christmas Spirit – that’s what I learned after I came to Canada.

What’s Christmas Spirit? Merry ho ho?

In my mind it is sharing. To be more accurate, it’s ‘thinking of someone’. You think of someone.

You imagine that person’s feelings and thoughts.

You have the understanding, compassion and admiration for his life.

You love him.

You care about him.

And you would like to share with him.

The last day of school this year, there was the Breakfast with Santa in Digby.

This annual event has been a community tradition. 3 weeks ago, due to the work-to-rule this year, everyone was wondering what would happen without much of hope.

As we expected, the cancellation was officially announced.

Then miracle happened. A group of volunteer quickly gathered and organized the event within less than a week. If not school, let’s do it somewhere else!

Many people visited that morning and had a good time. I went, too, with my family.

After I enjoyed the delicious breakfast, I stayed for a while just to help cleaning as much as I can. I was sitting by the crowd, waiting to spot any empty seats with empty dishes and garbage.

I saw people talking cheerfully with smile.

I saw many dressed with festive clothes.

I saw kids being excited and/or nervous taking with Santa.

I saw parents and grandparents taking photos of their children and friends.

It was a wonderful time to meet people and look back this whole year in this community. I could tell it was a very important opportunity to the community as well.

I could tell this tradition means a lot to this community.

I often say and still I can’t say enough – we are in a lovely community.

People care each other. People try to be kind each other.

I am very grateful to be a part of this community.

Someone always thinks of you.

Someone always cares about you.

Merry Christmas.
