Food Production VS Workshop

When people learn I am offering food making workshop, often they say I should make my own products and sell them. Usually they say so because they like what I make, which means there is a potential market.

If you have necessary knowledge, skills and equipment, and people’s interest is growing, you have the ideal condition to start a production business. It is quite natural to come to such an idea.

When I thought about shifting or expanding my business to food production, I realized this matter is strongly related to what I want to do. It is the matter of my business principles.

Although there are many elements in common, there is one significant difference between food production and workshop service.

As a food producer, the production system should work for me first and foremost. It is for me. On the other hand, a workshop provider needs a wider range of knowledge and experiences. Although one method works for me, it doesn’t necessarily work for the workshop participants. I want to find solutions not only for me but others.

Either way I need to keep learning and improving the method of food making. Just the point of view is different.

Since I started workshops, I am enjoying learning through the interaction with people. It is different from making foods only in my way. I now try to understand the mechanism behind deeply to deal with various scenarios. I learn a lot from the participants who have unique experiences and stories.

I do what I enjoy. Food production hasn’t been that much attractive to me yet, so I will focus and carry on my workshop business until I get tired of it.
